Acting & Leading with Wisdom: Practices to Enhance Collective Reflection
Presented by Sherry Immediato

Description: People in organizations are sometimes confronted with decisions that require discernment - they are important choices that require careful consideration of values and require new insights to produce a breakthrough in performance. This workshop will provide an overview of principles for connecting collecting intelligence and collective wisdom, with application of two particular reflection practices oriented toward action - the Theory U Case Clinic - developed by Otto Scharmer and the Presencing Institute and the Seeing Things Whole temporary trustee process. Participants will apply these tools to their own situation, or coach others. Participants routinely report that even when coaching others, they leave with insights applicable to their own situation.

Target Audience: Teams, team/organizational leaders, team members, team/organizational facilitators including board leaders, members, facilitators.

Organizational Issues: These methods lend themselves to strategic questions. The Seeing Things Whole Process asks participants to frame questions in a "How to …" format that usually captures a dilemma e.g. "How to develop a new market while still serving and appealing to our target market?" "How to develop new leadership that stays with the company to insure the long term success of the business?" "How to support current leadership in handing over the reins to a new leadership team?". The Case Clinic process is suited to almost any leadership issue - a problem/opportunity/project. In both cases, the issue should be one that the participant is involved in personally.

Objectives: 1. Insights about how to evoke greater wisdom in groups. 2. Familiarity with the Theory U case clinic method. 3. Familiarity with the Seeing Things Whole trustee process 4. More wisdom about a personal/organizational issue of interest.
