Session B - Pre-Conference Session
Wednesday, June 7th, 9am-12pm

Thinking Out of the Box of What We Know
Presented by Ivan Rosenberg

Format: Seminar
Primary Focus: Leadership
Secondary Focus: Cultural Transformation

Description: We bring in information about our world through a number of pre-established filters, which we call “listening filters”.  Such filters distort and sometimes even completely prevent messages from getting through.  But, we assume and act on that we are receiving accurately. After ensuring that everyone has had an experience of listening through their filters, we will look at how one can free oneself from the distortion of listening filters.  Then, we will investigate a number of practical applications:

  • Transformation vs. change
  • The practice of management
  • How to solve problems that look difficult or even impossible, i.e., problems that require breakthroughs
  • The practice of leadership
  • How to create a future that wasn’t going to happen anyhow
  • How to alter an organizational culture

Target Audience: People with ideas and a desire to make a difference in their organization, seeking a new model for their role.

Organizational Issues:
Doing the same things in the same ways is not a competitive strategy for survival in a rapidly changing world.  The automatic unconscious definitions of management and leadership often are obstacles to producing the breakthroughs that are needed to stay competitive.  What are more powerful definitions?  How do organizations engage the ideas, energy, and commitment of their employees so they look forward to going to work each morning?  How can an organization solve problems that appear difficult or even impossible?  How can we alter the organizational culture so it supports our strategic plan?

Objectives:
Experience a new level of effectiveness and efficiency in producing results with others.
