A Tale of Two-Headed Snakes
In 1446, English author John Heywood is credited with writing "Some heades haue taken two headis better then one," and adding "But ten heads without wit, I wene as good none." In 2010, the research into his proposal on the possibilities of two heads continued with a Scientific American report. The writer offered that "communication and competence are key" to two heads being better than one;
This implies that two heads may be better than one, but only when we can competently discuss our different perspectives. If one person in the team has flawed information -- or is less competent -- then the outcome can be negative and perhaps you should completely ignore them.
Does the same apply to reptiles? For example, are two heads an advantage to snakes? Perhaps giving one head the ability to watch for prey while the other watches for overhead hawks; thereby outliving their single-headed peers that can't multi-task. In the protection of captivity, they can live as long as twenty years. In the wild, their life expectancy is much shorter than single-headed snakes. While two heads may be better than one, as John Heywood noted 566 years ago, it depends on their environment, from the captivity of a monopoly to the wild of open competition, and how well they think together.

If you are not able to attend our weekend Conference, you are most welcome to attend any of our 16 Pre-Conference sessions and 5 Post-Conference sessions for free, plus one Post-Conference for $40.
Register by Friday, April 13th to attend any of our Pre- and Post-Conference sessions. Registrations for our weekend Conference will be accepted as late as Saturday, April 20th.
In a recent change to our weekend Conference program plans, we're sorry to announce that Jim Albaugh, our opening keynote presenter, has informed us that he's unable to participate due to an unforeseeable conflict in his schedule. We have him on our schedule for 2013 and are excited to announce that Sherry Immediato, who was a keynote speaker with us in 2006, will join us again this year as our opening keynote speaker. While the subject matter changes from aerospace to organizational learning, the emphasis on the need to lead with better questions remains the focus of this keynote session.
